If you are going into schools, please wear your RHET lanyard so that you are identifiable as a RHET volunteer.

Here are a few key considerations for your volunteering:

• Confirm your visit the day before and make sure you are on time. If you are delayed, have the school's phone number to hand just in case.
• Parking at schools can be challenging sometimes, so leave some time to make sure you can get parked, particularly if you have bits and pieces to carry.
• Switch your phone to silent.
• Please don’t take photos unless you have been told by your Local Coordinator that the school have provided photo permissions. Even where the teacher says you can, the Coordinator has it in writing and this is what needs to be adhered to.
• Try to answer questions to the best of your abilities without any personal bias. RHET have the remit of providing unbiased information regarding food and farming.
• Enjoy yourself! It's all about sharing your passion for food and farming with others.

Engaging with teachers is vital to RHET.

As ambassadors for our work, you have the opportunity to pass on information to teachers about the other resources we have available to support them:

• We have a teaching portal full of links to resources for use in the classroom.
• We also offer teacher training if any of the teachers you engage with would like more information and ideas for teaching about food and farming in the classroom.
