RHET does not have a traditional, hierarchical, organisational structure. We are currently 13 charities operating under an umbrella banner, sharing the same broad aims and working to the same planning framework.
The nature of our working relationships is collaborative and cooperative. All decisions affecting the overall organisation should be informed by consultation and discussion of important issues. Decision making normally occurs at levels appropriate to the nature of the business.
Currently, by agreement, the RHET Board is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction, allocating RHET Central Team resources to individual Countryside Initiatives, suggesting overall targets for activity and pupil contact numbers and monitoring progress towards overall outcomes in relation to goals expressed in the RHET Strategic Plan.
The Countryside Initiative Boards are responsible for similar actions at a more local level in relation to goals expressed in their Local Strategic Plans.
RHASS is a member of RHET and all RHET Central Team staff are employed by and managed by RHASS. Reports on RHET activity are regularly delivered to a number of RHASS Committee and Board meetings.
The Trust’s head office is based in Ingliston House on the Royal Highland Showground next to Edinburgh airport. The following positions currently operate from Ingliston:
Alongside the head office in Ingliston sit thirteen Countryside Initiatives (CI) that cover all of Scotland. These are:
Each CI consists of a local board/committee and Project Coordinator, all of whom work together to deliver RHET's aims and ambitions to pupils.
Volunteers account for the largest portion of RHET’s work across the country and total over 1,000 people. Find out here how you can get involved.
