As the seasons shift and the evenings grow darker, there’s still so much to enjoy outdoors. Autumn is a truly magical time — full of vibrant colours, crisp frosts in the early mornings, and sunshine (on a good day).

If you’re looking for fun and simple ways to enjoy this season with young family members, why not take part in the RHET Autumn Challenge? It’s easy to get involved — just head outside, take a good look around, and if you have time, try out some seasonal cooking too!

This is the perfect time of year for hearty root vegetables, cabbages, and, of course, pumpkins. To help you make the most of what’s in season, we’ve created a handy calendar full of information and recipe ideas to inspire your kitchen adventures.

So pull on your coat and boots, take a stroll in your local area, and see what you can spot. Don’t forget to share your discoveries with us on Facebook (The Royal Highland Education Trust) or Bluesky (@therhet.bsky.social)  — we’d love to see what autumn treasures you find!
